History in Riverside is rich. Burdsal Parkway is part of the Kessler System designed in 1909 by George E. Kessler, one of the nation‘s premier landscape architects. The neighborhood was home to Indianapolis' first zoo and the Riverside Amusement Park. Riverside's neighborhood boundaries are the White River, Fall Creek and the Canal with 30th Street at its northern tip. Its many amenities, from golf courses to green ways to its rolling 80-acre park of sports fields, make the neighborhood a destination for recreation. While primarily residential, the southern portion of Riverside is a mix of commercial/industrial properties, including a stretch of the new 16 Tech development.
